THEMATIC COLLABORATIVE CLUSTER: FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE

EFFECTS OF LOST AND ABANDONED FISHING GEAR

This collaboration is focused on both the removal of lost and abandoned fishing gear and studying the effects of this gear on fisheries. Of late, the team is collaborating in Long Island Sound with The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, the Long Island Soundkeeper (Save the Sound), and Project Oceanology to support their removal of lost and abandoned lobster pots, and to study the effects of those pots on local fishes and invertebrates.
